THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY GETS NEW CLERK


Ms. Shelda Commettant has been appointed the new Clerk to the National Assembly. She today took the Oath of Allegiance in the presence of the Speaker,
Hon. Dr. Patrick Herminie and Members of the National Assembly during the first Sitting of the second term for this year. Ms. Commettant holds a University Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and has been working for the National Assembly for the last seven years. Ms.  Commettant broadened her knowledge of parliamentary affairs through attachments and training with the House of Commons in England, the Parliament of Canada, the European Parliament in Brussels, the National Assembly of Namibia amongst others. During her tenure at the National Assembly she occupied several positions from Public Relations, Communication and Protocol Officer to the Director in the Office of the Over the last year Ms. Commettant has been acting in the post of Clerk following the departure of Ms. Azarel Ernesta for further training overseas. Both the Speaker and the Leader of Government Business have congratulated the new Clerk and expressed confidence that she will do a good job.

 

THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LEADS A CAPACITY BUILDING INITIATIVE EXCLUSIVELY FOR MEDIA PROFESSIONALS IN SEYCHELLES

The National Assembly, with the assistance of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) organized a two day workshop held from the 18th to the 19th May, 2015, at the parliamentary precinct. The workshop organized exclusively for media professionals was a capacity building opportunity for media professionals to gain better understanding of the nature of parliamentary work and techniques to provide stimulating coverage of parliamentary proceedings.

PARLIAMENTARIANS DISCUSS PROGRAM PERFORMANCE BASED BUDGETING

A group of Members from the National Assembly attended a Program Performance Based Budgeting (PPBB) working session on Thursday 30th April. This was organized conjointly by the World Bank and Ministry of Finance and took place at National House.
